You will need

*Worsted Weight Yarn in two colours. I used:
*Color A: Barley (approx. 120 yards).
*Color B: Pretty Pink (approx. 50 yards) .
*Size G (4.0 mm) Crochet Hook.
*Safety Eyes or buttons (if you are making this for a very small child it is safest to embroider on the eyes).
*Scissors.
*Stitch Marker or scrap piece of yarn.
*Poly-Fil for stuffing the bunny.

Notes Before You Start

1.I worked my single crochets in the back loop to make it easier to count my rows and I personally just like the way it looks.
2.Work your rounds in spirals, do not join at the beginning of each round. You will need to use a stitch marker to mark your rounds.
3.Each round has the total number of stitches for the round in brackets. If you are unsure its always a good idea to count your stitches.

Head and Body

With color A, make a magic circle or adjustable ring

Continuous Rounds – The bunny body is completed in continuous rounds
Dress Fitting- Depending on the type of yarn used (stiff vs. loose) and the way in which you complete your SC when making amigurumi (yarn over vs. yarn under), you may find that the dress fits a bit differently than the model. The dress is designed with a bit of extra overlap at the bottom to help with these variances. When sewing on the bottom button, pull the dress across the back until it sits as you like it before fastening.
Stitch Markers – The end stitches when creating the dress can be easy to miss, so I recommend marking the first and last stitch of each row, especially when completing a row after making the shells

Dress

The dress is worked in ROWS, where the CH 1 or CH 2 at the beginning of a new row does not count as a stitch. Two button hole loops are made with CH 5, indicated in the pattern below. Depending on the size of buttons you use, you may need to increase/decrease the number of chains to fit around the buttons. When you get to this stage, check to make sure the loop fits around your button before continuing on.
In this pattern, you will be making a series of rows of shells to shape the branches’ of the dress. These are worked into either the front or back loops of the previous row. The row after the branches are then completed by working into the same row, but in the unworked stitches. It is very easy to lose a stitch or two when working these rows, so I suggest marking the first and last stitch and counting carefully!
In green colour yarn:

Winter Hat

This is worked in ROWS. CH 1 does not count as a stitch
In blue colour yarn:
R1: CH 18, SC into 2nd CH from hook and across remaining CH (17 st)
R2:CH 1, turn. In the BLO, SC across (17 st)
Repeat R2 until it is long enough to wrap snuggly around the head of your bunny (I needed 30 rows for my toque to wrap around)
FO, and fold the rectangle in half, so that the last row of SC lines up with your starting chain. Wip stitch across through the starting chain and loop from your final row that is closest to the chain.
Your rectangle should now form a tube. On the end where you finished wip stitching, start working around the open top, working your needle in and out through the top edge, pulling as you work around to close the top. Once you have made it all the way around the top and your toque is cinched closed, run your needle a few times through the top so that the toque is securely fastened shut and weave in your ends. Flip your toque inside out to hide your work.

Optional Pom

In grey colour yarn:
Wrap your yarn around two fingers, 25-30 times and tie tightly together with a long piece of yarn. Using scissors (the sharper the better!) trim your pom to a size that you like. Attach to a needle and sew through the top of the toque, weaving in the ends.

Attaching the Winter Hat

You can now attach the toque to the head of your bunny. With the rim of the toque folded down, thread a needle with yarn the same colour as the head and sew to the head, about half an inch up from the base of the winter hat. Work around one or two times, so that it is firmly sewn to the head. Weave in ends.
